Facebook Messenger allows only Facebook account to connect
Facebook Messenger allows only Facebook account to connect – Since a few days ago, we are not able to create a Facebook Messenger account without having a Facebook account already created and linked to it. This decision was announced by Facebook a few days ago, until recently we were able to create a Facebook Messenger account even if we didn’t have an existing Facebook account. To create the Messenger account, we had the options of using a Facebook account or a mobile number.
This change has been applied in order to simplify the process of connecting to the app, because most of the users used a Facebook account to connect. As the change has been made, many users reported problems when trying to connect to Messenger using a mobile number, specifying they receive an error of having the access restricted.
Connections to the Messenger app has been tested for the first time for users in USA, Canada, Peru and Venezuela in July 2015. This change could anticipate unfiying all Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp apps. This has also been mentioned by the New York Times in January, the possibility of Facebook to redefine the way over 3 billion users communicate with each other (WhatsApp – over 1.5 billions, Messenger – over 1.3 billions, Instagram – ofer 1 billion).
Facebook Messenger allows only Facebook account to connect
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO has confesed that “people should be able to use any of our apps to communicate with their friends and they should be able to do this easy and secure. We plan to do this by allowing you to message your contacts by using any of our services. Also, we plan to give you the possibility of sending text messages.
Private messaging, chats and small groups are the most developed areas in online communication. As for the Internet’s future, we are thinking of a privacy based social platform. I believe this platform will be more important than the ones we currently have”.
This decision seems to be effective on long term because Facebook puts ads on their services to promote services of other companies. Facebook could also try to recover their investment in buying WhatsApp in 2014, so they should earn 55$ for each user.
